Drone Strike Hits Kyiv School: A Wake-Up Call for Accountability
A Russian drone strike on a school in Kyiv on Thursday has left a significant part of the building damaged, shattering windows and partially destroying a wall. Fortunately, no children or teachers were harmed, as they had taken shelter following an air raid alert, according to Ukrainian officials and the school's headteacher, Valentyna Chorna.
Chorna emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, 'They spare no one. Children are our future, the future of our nation. In order to destroy a nation, of course, they need to destroy children.' This incident raises critical questions about the safety of civilians in conflict zones and the accountability of governments to protect their citizens.
As reported by The Guardian, 104 children were present at School 12 when the alert sounded, and they were in secure classrooms when the drone struck. This attack is a stark reminder of the ongoing threats faced by schools and the urgent need for protective measures in areas affected by war.
