South Park Rebrands as 'South America' in Bold Response to Trump’s Renaming Push
In a daring move, the creators of the long-running animated series 'South Park' have officially rebranded the show as 'South America' for its upcoming 29th season. This change is a pointed response to former President Donald Trump's recent attempts to rename various geographical features across the U.S., including lakes and states, in a bid to promote his vision of 'America'.
The show's creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, expressed their decision as inspired by the 'bravery and patriotism' displayed by major companies like Apple and Google, which have also capitulated to Trump’s demands. They stated, "We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount – a Skydance Capitulation."
As reported by The Guardian, this rebranding coincides with Paramount Skydance's controversial $111 billion merger with Warner Bros Discovery, a deal approved during the Trump administration that has drawn significant backlash from the creative community. 'South America' is set to premiere on September 16 and will be available for streaming on Paramount+. This bold statement highlights the ongoing tensions between corporate interests and artistic integrity in a politically charged climate.
