Tamil Nadu Boosts Support for Vulnerable Communities in New Budget

In a bid to support vulnerable communities, the Tamil Nadu government announced a significant increase in financial assistance for lean-period fishing, now set at ₹7,000 per family. This initiative aims to alleviate the struggles of fishermen during off-seasons and ensure food security for their families.

Additionally, under the ‘Vetri Magalir Goat Rearing Scheme’, the government will provide five goats or sheep at a 100% subsidy to destitute widows, deserted women, transgender persons, and persons with disabilities (PwDs) in rural areas. This program is designed to empower marginalized groups by providing them with sustainable livelihood options.
