In a shocking revelation, a report by The Guardian has uncovered that under the Trump administration, ICE officials allegedly resorted to brutal measures against at least ten hunger strikers in U.S. immigrant detention. Court records indicate that these procedures included force-feeding, intravenous hydration, and involuntary blood draws, practices condemned as torture by human rights organizations.

Between 2025 and 2026, at least three immigrants were confirmed victims of these invasive procedures, while two others likely endured similar treatments. Disturbingly, five additional hunger strikers capitulated at the last moment, fearing the impending force-feeding actions. One Kurdish asylum seeker was subjected to this treatment for nearly eight months at the Port Isabel service processing center in Texas, highlighting a stark misuse of power by authorities.

This situation raises critical questions about the ethical standards of U.S. immigration enforcement. What justifications did officials provide for such severe actions? How can these practices be reconciled with human rights obligations? The silence from government representatives speaks volumes as advocates demand accountability for these alleged human rights violations.
